India's Cochin Shipyard has cut the first steel for two new autonomous electric Ro-Ro vessels in a series ordered by Norwegian owner Asko Maritime.

The DNV GL-classed vessels will be operated by Massterly, a joint venture between Kongsberg Maritime and Wilhelmsen.

Each vessel will have a length of 67 metres and capacity for 16 fully loaded standard EU trailers. Design work was carried out by Naval Dynamics Norway.

The order also includes options for two additional vessels.
