Netherlands-based Neptune Marine has been selected to build a new hybrid-powered Ro-Ro vessel for France's Jifmar Offshore Services.

The 121-metre Canopée will be powered by LNG dual-fuel engines and four automated wind-powered sails. This configuration is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30 per cent.

Keel-laying is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021 while delivery is expected in 2022. The vessel will be operated by Alizes, a joint venture formed by Jifmar and French freight specialist Zéphyr and Borée, on behalf of customer ArianeGroup.
