Keel laid for LNG-fuelled car carrier for NYK

Shin Kurushima Toyohashi Shipbuilding has laid the keel for a new car carrier ordered by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK).

The vessel will be powered by LNG and will be delivered in 2020.

NYK claims operation of the vessel would help reduce SOx and NOx emissions by as much as 99 per cent and 86 per cent, respectively, compared to conventional marine fuels.
