Höegh Autoliners has entered into a letter of intent (LOI) with China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) (CMHI) to build a series of multi-fuel and ammonia-ready vehicle carriers.

Under the terms of the LOI, the first two vessels will be delivered in the second half of 2024. Each will have capacity for up to 9,100 cars.

The ships in the series will have DNV's new "ammonia ready" notation to indicate that they will be ready for operation on carbon-neutral ammonia.
