JMU to build 211,000DWT bulker for K Line

Japan Marine United (JMU) has been awarded a contract for the construction of one 211,000DWT bulk carrier for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line).

The vessel will have an LOA of approximately 300 metres, a beam of 50 metres, a draught of 18.4 metres, a crew of 25, and a speed of 14.5 knots.

The bulk carrier will be used primarily to transport iron ore. Upon completion and delivery in 2021, it will commence a long-term time charter with JFE Steel Corporation.
