Japan’s Doun Kisen takes delivery of 66,000DWT bulker

Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding delivered a new bulk carrier to local operator Doun Kisen on Wednesday, July 21.

The NK-classed, Panamanian-flagged Jal Kalpataru has an LOA of 199.99 metres, a moulded beam of 36 metres, a deadweight of 66,264 tonnes, and space for 25 crewmembers. One Mitsui-MAN B&W 7S50ME-C9.7 diesel engine delivers a service speed of approximately 14.5 knots.

The vessel also has four cranes and five cargo holds with a total capacity of 82,600 cubic metres. The holds are optimised for the transport of coal, ore, grain, steel pipe, and hot coil.
