A crane vessel operated by German company SAL Heavy Lift sustained damage on the evening of October 31 at the Port of Rostock after a wind turbine monopile that it was lifting fell onto its deck.
One end of the monopile ended up on the 160-metre Svenja while the other end landed on the pier.
Svenja is presently under contract with Ørsted, transporting monopiles for the Danish company's 1,218MW Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm in the UK North Sea.
The cause of the incident and the extent of the damage to the vessel have not yet been determined though a spokeswoman from Ørsted has confirmed that the incident will not significantly affect the project's timetable.
One of Svenja's crew members reportedly suffered minor injuries from the incident.
