Russia's Fesco Transportation Group has been contracted by Indian Government's National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) for supplying the Indian research stations in Antarctica in 2019.

According to the terms of the contract, Fesco's icebreaking cargo ship Vasiliy Golovnin (pictured) will deliver general cargo, food products, and fuel to the Indian Antarctic stations Bharati and Maitri. NCPOR scientists will also join on this expedition aboard the vessel to carry out scientific activities in the polar region.

Vasiliy Golovnin will start its three-month Antarctic voyage at the port of Cape Town in January 2019.
