Construction completed for “K” Line’s newest 200,000DWT bulker

Construction on Cape Sapphire, a new 200,000DWT capesize bulk carrier ordered by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Line), has been completed and the vessel has now been launched, the company said in a statement.

Constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding, Cape Sapphire has an LOA of 299.95 metres, a width of 50 metres, a draught of 18.32 metres, and a speed of 14.5 knots.

Among the vessel's many features is a funnel equipped with a scrubber to remove sulphur oxide (SOx) from gas discharged from the engine in compliance with the regulation of the SOx Global Cap that will be enforced from January 2020.
