A 579DWT cargo vessel ran aground on the island of Linesøya north of Trondheim, Norway, early in the morning of September 22 (local time).
The cargo ship Osfjord was sailing from Brønnøysund to Kristiansund when it encountered rough weather conditions just prior to the grounding.
Osfjord's crew sent out a distress call at 05:10, prompting the local Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (NSSR) station to deploy a rescue boat and a helicopter to the area of the incident.
Strong winds forced the NSSR rescuers to resort to using only the helicopter for evacuating the stranded crew of four.
The helicopter airlifted all four crewmembers safely off the stricken vessel by 05:54.
A mechanical failure caused the ship to be disabled while in transit, leading to its subsequent grounding.
