A cargo vessel came to the aid of two fishermen who had gone adrift at sea after their boat capsized in rough weather off Zamboanga del Norte province in the southern Philippines on Saturday, July 18.
The crew of Asia Pacific, a vessel operated by local company Trans-Asia Shipping Lines (TASLI), came upon the distressed fishermen around 14 nautical miles off the town of Sindangan shortly after 15:00 local time.
Asia Pacific's crew then brought the fishermen aboard their vessel and provided them with food and clothing. The survivors were later turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard, which then brought them to shore in Sindangan.
The fishermen said they had spent nearly 24 hours drifting in the water prior to being rescued.
