Canadian operator Algoma Central Corporation has entered into an agreement with China's Yangzijiang Shipyard for the construction of a new self-unloading bulk carrier.

The newbuilding is scheduled to replace Algoma Transport, one of the oldest ships in Algoma's dry bulk fleet.

Construction will commence in late 2022 and completion will be in 2024.
