A recent study from the Centre for Forecasting Science, part of China's Academy of Science, predicted that China's logistics industry would grow steadily in 2009 despite the global downturn.
The national logistics industry value will see a year-on-year increase of 21.8 percent to US$17.1 billion by the end of this year, while the added value of the industry will rise 10.9 percent to US$290 billion.
The report said that the fluctuating economic situation in both China and the world would trigger a change in the structure of demand for logistics service in the country. While the retail sector faces a downturn, the logistics industry will turn its target to farm products and recycled resources.
Furthermore, as the global transport demand falls, exploiting the domestic market will be the new focus of China's logistics industry.
