Wan Hai Lines orders 20 new vessels

Taiwanese shipping company Wan Hai Lines has placed an order for 20 containerships with two manufacturers as part of its fleet improvement plan.

Under their respective contracts with Wan Hai, Japan Marine United (JMU) will deliver eight 3,036TEU vessels and Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard (GWS) will deliver 12 2,038TEU vessels. Wan Hai has the option to declare an additional four 3,036TEU vessels within six months and four 2,038TEU vessels within three months.

Delivery of the JMU-built vessels and the GWS-built vessels will begin in October 2020 and in January 2021, respectively.
