Inland freight transport company Tidewater Transportation and Terminals has been awarded a US$3.2 million grant under the Marine Highway Program of the US Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD).

Tidewater said the grant will aid in the expansion of its barge service on the Columbia Snake River System between Boardman, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington.

Some of the funds will be used for the acquisition of a new container barge.
