Chinese port operator Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) inaugurated its newest facility at Israel's Mediterranean port of Haifa during a ceremony on Wednesday, September 1.
SIPG said Haifa New Port, which also has automated container handling facilities, is the first new port to be built in Israel in 60 years.
The SIPG-operated port was built to be capable of accommodating containerships of up to 18,000 TEUs capacity. The project has an estimated cost of US$1.7 billion.
