A group of pirates boarded an MSC-operated containership in the Gulf of Guinea off Gabon and abducted seven of its crew on Sunday, March 22.

Security consultancy firm Dryad Global said the attack on the Portuguese-flagged MSC Talia F, which is owned by Technomar Shipping of Greece, occurred at around 07:30 UTC as the vessel was sailing for Port of Libreville in Gabon after having earlier departed the Togolese capital of Lome.

Fourteen crewmen remained aboard the vessel after the pirates left with their hostages, who have all been identified as Ukrainian nationals.

The vessel's AIS track shows that it resumed its voyage to Libreville within hours of the attack, its ETA set at 20:00 UTC on Sunday.
