Vympel Design Bureau, a naval architecture firm under Russia's state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation, has developed a concept design of a new vessel series capable of transporting both dry and containerised cargo.

Two variants will be made available under the Project 00111 series.

The Project 00111A ships will each be equipped with a single-shaft powerplant that can be fitted with locally produced engines of between 1,200 and 1,600 kW in output while the Project 00111B vessels will each have a two-shaft powerplant and a greater deadweight capacity.

The vessels are designed for the transportation of containers including reefers, general cargo, project cargo, grain and other bulk cargo, timber and lumber, metal in bundles and rolls, and dangerous goods. The navigation area will include the 227-kilometre-long White Sea–Baltic Canal.

Ships of both variants will each have a length of 120 metres, a beam of 13.4 metres, a speed of over 10 knots, and an extra-long cargo hold that measures 78.7 metres.
