OOCL orders ten 16,000TEU newbuildings from Chinese yards

Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has placed an order for ten 16,000TEU container vessels to be built by two shipyards in China.

Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) and Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) will each build five ships in fulfilment of the order, which has a total approximate value of US$1.575 billion.

The newbuildings are scheduled for delivery over a span of 12 months beginning in the fourth quarter of 2024.
