Khalifa port plans new container freight station

Published on

Abu Dhabi Ports and China's Cosco Shipping Ports will develop the region's largest container station at Khalifa port.

The 275,000-square-metre freight station includes plans for adding another 150,000 square metres at a later stage.

The facility will provide bonded LCL/FCL (less than container load/full container load) consolidation and deconsolidation services, cargo weight reduction, short-term warehousing for deconsolidated cargo and access to the port's container terminal.

The move is part of Abu Dhabi's broader strategy to develop the port as a regional hub and link it with industrial free zones to expand and diversify the economy.
