Dredging and land reclamation works have commenced at Takoradi Port in Ghana to allow eventual construction of a new multi-purpose container terminal.
Ibistek Ghana had been awarded a US$475 million contract to dredge the port basin to a target depth of 16 metres and reclaim land for five new berths capable of accommodating bigger capacity vessels.
The works are to be carried out over a span of 24 months.
Once completed, the new terminal will have a cargo holding capacity of one million TEUs.
