Containership damaged after striking pier in Manila’s North Harbor

The Philippine Coast Guard has responded to an incident wherein a containership accidentally allided with and damaged a pier at Manila's North Harbor on Monday, August 10.

The incident involving Ocean Abundance, a vessel owned by local company Oceanic Container Lines, occurred at around 03:10 local time on Monday.

The collision had also damaged Ocean Abundance's bow. However, no injuries have been reported and no oil spills were detected in the area despite the damage sustained by the vessel.

The coast guard and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) are investigating the incident, which the vessel's crew has attributed to an engine malfunction.
