Construction on the expanded Port of Helsingborg in Sweden can begin in 2026 at the earliest, the port said in a press release.
The expanded facility will include a new dedicated container port, which officials said will be located in an area that can facilitate further developments over the next 40 years. That portion will have a 750-metre-long berth that can simultaneously accommodate three 225-metre, deep-draught vessels and automated electric cranes as lower-emission alternatives to conventional cranes.
The new port is expected to be commissioned and operational by 2028.
