Construction on the Centerm Expansion Project at the Port of Vancouver is now complete, Canada's Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) has confirmed.

The expansion project, delivered in partnership with UAE-based terminal operator DP World, provides added capacity, allowing Centerm to handle up to 60 per cent more containers.

The work completed includes expanding the terminal area to the west and east, reconfiguring and expanding the container yard, building truck gates, expanding the intermodal yard, building a new operations facility, and improving nearby marine habitats.

VFPA said that the expanded terminal will have capacity for 1.5 million TEUs and will be fully operational later this year.
