The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) in south-western Cambodia is set to undergo improvement works with the aim of expanding its container handling capacity.
The works will be funded with the aid of a ¥41.388 billion (US$306.85 million) loan awarded by the Japanese government. The loan agreement between the two countries' governments was signed on Saturday, August 6.
The expansion is in line with the Cambodian government's aim of upgrading PAS, the sole international and commercial deep seaport in the country, into a principal cargo handling facility for the whole ASEAN region.
