UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and security consultancy firm Dryad Global have confirmed that an explosion occurred on board a commercial vessel sailing in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, February 25.

Dryad said that the Bahamas-flagged, Israeli-owned pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) Helios Ray had sailed out of Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with a final destination of Singapore when the blast occurred at 20:40 UTC on Thursday.

The PCTC was 44 nautical miles northwest of Muscat at the time. No serious damage or injuries have been reported.

Recent reports confirm the vessel has docked in Dubai to undergo inspection and repairs.

The UKMTO added that investigations are currently ongoing.
