The Turkish Coast Guard Command has taken delivery of the first vessel in a new class of composite-hulled fast patrol boats built by local defence firm ARES Shipyard.

The newbuild has an LOA of 11.9 metres, a beam of 3.76 metres, and a draught of 0.8 metres. Two inboard diesel engines driving a pair of waterjets deliver a top speed of 35 knots.

Built to Turkish Lloyd classification, the boat is capable of operations in all coastal areas of Turkey spanning the northeast portion of the Black Sea to the southeast portion of the Mediterranean. Missions will include maritime security patrols, search and rescue (SAR), and anti-illegal migration operations.
