Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has confirmed that the country will donate patrol vessels for use by the coast guards of the South Pacific island nations of Palau and Nauru, which are also two of its diplomatic allies.
The donation of the vessels is one of the provisions of Taiwan's coast guard cooperation agreement with Palau and Nauru which will be signed next week during President Tsai Ing-Wen's visit to region.
The two countries will each build one eight-tonne patrol boat with funding from Taiwan.
