Seaspan Shipyards launched a new research vessel into the water on Friday, July 3.

The future CCGS John Cabot, which was also formally named on Friday, is the third 63-metre offshore fisheries science vessel (OFSV) that Seaspan is building for the Canadian Coast Guard. Onboard facilities and equipment will include four laboratories, a deployable sensor-laden drop keel, and fishing trawls.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for this summer following completion of sea trials.
