A Spanish-flagged fast Ro-Pax ferry collided with a recreational boat in the waters off the Canary Islands on Thursday, November 8.

The incident occurred at around 16:30 local time near the coast of Arucas.

The Naviera Armas-owned 92-metre vessel Alborán was sailing from Gran Canaria's capital of Las Palmas to Santa Cruz de Tenerife when it collided with the 25-metre Trames Uno.

All three occupants on Trames Uno jumped into the water just moments before impact and were later rescued by a Spanish Coast Guard helicopter.

Alborán returned to the port of La Luz in Las Palmas following the incident.

No injuries have been reported on either vessel.
