The Port of Amsterdam and the Damen Shipyards Group have entered into an agreement wherein Damen will modify one of the port's harbour patrol vessels to enable it to conduct operations with reduced emissions.

The Damen-built patrol boat PA1 will be fitted with new IMO Tier III- and EU Stage V-compliant engines, exhaust cleaning systems including a diesel particulate filter and an SCR system, and improved propulsion train arrangements. A heat recovery system will also be installed to provide heating for the bridge and the accommodation areas.

Other modifications include improvement in the bridge insulation, replacement of all glass in the bridge, and installation of new rudders and propellers.

PA1 will resume operations in June 2022.
