Philippine Coast Guard’s second 97m patrol ship sails on delivery voyage

The Philippine Coast Guard's second Teresa Magbanua-class 97-metre multi-role response vessel (MRRV) departed Japanese waters on its delivery voyage on Friday, May 27.

The future BRP Melchora Aquino recently completed final acceptance tests at Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's Shimonoseki Shipyard. It is scheduled to arrive in Manila on Wednesday, June 1.

The future Melchora Aquino and sister vessel BRP Teresa Magbanua are the largest vessels yet acquired by the Philippine Coast Guard. Duties will include maritime security patrols, search and rescue, counter-narcotics missions, and environmental protection.
