Massachusetts town acquires ex-USCG response boat

The town of Manchester, Massachusetts, has acquired a patrol boat formerly operated by the US Coast Guard (USCG).

The 25-foot (7.6-metre) aluminium-hulled vessel, which was originally delivered in 2006 by SAFE Boats International, was purchased for US$45,000 drawn entirely from town funds. The cost also includes updating of the onboard electronic equipment.

Manchester's public safety agencies will operate the vessel on regular patrols and in response to emergencies in anticipation of increased boating traffic in the town's harbour during the summer months.
