Indian Coast Guard commissions tenth Samarth-class patrol vessel

The Indian Coast Guard commissioned a new offshore patrol vessel (OPV) into service on Thursday, October 28.

ICGS Sarthak is the tenth Samarth-class OPV to be built by Goa Shipyard for the coast guard. It measures 105 by 12 metres and can reach a top speed of 24 knots or sail for up to 6,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.

The vessel is armed with a 30-millimetre naval gun and two 12.7-millimetre machine guns.
