The Indian Coast Guard has formally welcomed a new locally-built offshore patrol vessel (OPV) into service.
Built by Goa Shipyard, ICGS Sajag is the ninth of a planned eleven Samarth-class OPVs slated for the coast guard.
The vessel has a length of 105 metres, a beam of 13.6 metres, a draught of 6.2 metres, and a displacement of 2,450 tonnes. It also has onboard space for a twin-engined utility helicopter and four small fast boats.
Sajag's missions will include search and rescue (SAR) and pollution response.
