Indian Coast Guard commissions fourth Vikram-class OPV

The Indian Coast Guard has commissioned ICGS Varaha, the fourth of seven Vikram-class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) ordered from local shipbuilder Larsen and Toubro (L&T).

The vessel has a length of 97 metres, a beam of 15 metres, a speed of 26 knots, a 30-millimetre naval gun, and two 12.7-millimetre machine guns.

Varaha will be used for maritime security patrols, pollution response, search and rescue (SAR), anti-piracy missions, and anti-smuggling missions.
