The Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group of China recently launched a new hydrographic survey ship that will be operated by the Chinese Maritime Safety Administration (CMSA).
Once completed, the CCS-classed Haixun 08 will have an LOA of 123.6 metres, a moulded beam of 21.6 metres, a displacement of 7,500 tonnes, and space for 100 crewmembers. The vessel will be able to sail at a maximum speed of 15 knots while a range of 18,000 nautical miles can be achieved when cruising at 12 knots.
Features will include a DP2 system, retractable anti-roll fins, and an anti-roll tank.
Besides performing deep-sea hydrographic surveys, the vessel will also be utilised for search and rescue (SAR) and maritime sovereignty patrols.
Haixun 08 is scheduled to undergo sea trials in November 2022 while delivery will take place the following month.
