Croatian shipyard Brodosplit has laid the keels of two new steel-aluminium coastal patrol vessels ordered by the country's Ministry of Defence.
The 43- by eight-metre vessels will have space for 16 crew and two 2,525kW diesel engines that will deliver speeds of up to 40 knots and a range of 1,000 nautical miles at 15 knots. Armament will include a 30-millimetre cannon, 12.7-millimetre machine guns, and man-portable surface-to-air missiles.
Each vessel will also be equipped with a stern ramp for launching and recovering a 7.7-metre rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) and features that will help protect the crew against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) contamination.
The vessels will be operated by the Croatian Coast Guard.
