Built by Yamba Welding and Engineering of New South Wales, the 12.5-metre craft has been named Kuursi, which means "hammerhead shark" in the Kala Lagaw Ya language.

The new boat will be used to support border protection operations in Far North Queensland. Other missions will include search and rescue, recovery, casualty evacuation, stores and equipment transfer, community engagement and surveillance.
