Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has stated the government's intentions to acquire a Cape-class vessel for the nation's coast guard.

Australian shipbuilders Austal and Incat recently sent representatives to Trinidad and Tobago for talks on the construction of a vessel.

Austal has also sent a report to the Trinidad and Tobago Government on how to bring six of its coast guard's FPVs back into service.

Rowley claims these vessels were left to rot under the previous government.
