Saab's unmanned vehicles subsidiary Saab Seaeye has completed construction of the first production example of the Sea Wasp remotely operated vehicle (ROV).

The 1.7-metre-long, 90-kilogram vessel, which has been in development since 2014, will be used primarily for underwater explosive ordnance disposal (EOD). It is equipped with a multi-beam forward-looking sonar, colour cameras, and ordnance disposal equipment deployed through a manipulator arm.

The formal unveiling of the first production Sea Wasp is scheduled for later this year.
