Russia’s second Lada-class submarine begins sea trials

United Shipbuilding Corporation's (USC) Admiralty Shipyard has begun conducting sea trials of the second Project 677 or Lada-class diesel-electric attack submarine slated for the Russian Navy.

The future Kronshtadt will undergo high-speed sailing and manoeuvring tests in the Gulf of Finland. The trials will conclude before the end of December.

The submarine will be commissioned into service in 2022. It will join sister boat Sankt Peterburg in the Russian Northern Fleet.
