The Indonesian Navy has received its second Nagapasa-class submarine KRI Ardadedali from South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).
Operated by a crew of 40 sailors, the 61-metre KRI Ardadedali is the second of three submarines Indonesia is building in co-operation with DSME under a US$1.1 billion contract signed in 2011.
Reaching a speed of 21 knots while submerged, the submarine has an operating range of 10,000 nautical miles.
Ardadedali and her crew left DSME's shipyard in Okpo, Geoje bound for Surabaya.
The lead submarine, KRI Nagapasa, entered service in August.
The final submarine in the class will be assembled by the Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL in Surabaya, Indonesia, under a technology transfer program.
