The Indonesian Navy and the Government of South Korea have begun negotiations over the possible purchase of three additional Chang Bogo-class submarines.

Approval of the purchase will see the three new submarines become the fourth through sixth Chang Bogo-class ships to be acquired by Indonesia.

The total acquisition cost of the submarines, which are to be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) once given approval to do so, is estimated to be approximately US$1.2 billion.
