The Indian Navy formally retired the diesel-electric attack submarine INS Sindhuvijay in a ceremony on Saturday, July 16.
The submarine is the second in the Sindhughosh-class, which are Indian variants of the Russian Kilo-class boats. Construction took place at the Severodvinsk facilities of Russian shipbuilder Sevmash.
Sindhuvijay's 35 years of service included testing of numerous locally developed critical systems, including a deep submergence rescue vehicle.
