India commissions second P-75 submarine

India commissioned its newest P-75 or Kalvari-class diesel-electric attack submarine in a ceremony at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Saturday, September 28.

INS Khanderi was constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders as the second indigenously-built Indian submarine to be based on the Scorpène-class vessels developed by Naval Group.

Khanderi has a length of 67.5 metres, a beam of 6.2 metres, a maximum speed of 20 knots, a maximum diving depth of 350 metres, and a crew of 43. Armament consists of SUT heavy torpedoes, Exocet anti-ship missiles, and mines.
