The US Navy's Independence-class littoral combat ship LCS 34 will be named USS Augusta.

It will be the sixth US Navy vessel to be named in honour of the capital city of the US state of Maine.

The future USS Augusta will be built by Austal USA. It will have a length of 127 metres, a width of 32 metres, and a maximum speed in excess of 40 knots.
