French newspaper La Tribune has reported that the United Arab Emirates and Naval Group have finalised a €750 million (US$850 million) contract for the construction of two Gowind-class corvettes with options for two more.

The first two vessels will be built with cooperation from Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company (ADSB).

The 102-metre-long corvettes will be armed with Exocet anti-ship missiles and Evolved Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missiles.
