ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of Rio de Janeiro-based CBO Group for the acquisition of Oceana Shipyard in the state of Santa Catarina.

Oceana has been chosen as the preferred shipyard for the building of four Tamandaré-class frigates for the Brazilian Navy.

The acquisition is being executed through TKMS' Brazilian subsidiary, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems do Brasil. The transaction is subject to the approval of Brazilian antitrust authorities and the official entry into force of the frigate contract, which is expected in the middle of this year.
