The offer submitted by Spanish shipyard Navantia to the Polish Ministry of Defence to build three frigates in a technology transfer program has been selected under a shortlist along with two other competitors.
Navantia said it will now participate in the program's viability phase in order to propose a design that further adjusts to the requirements of the Armaments Inspectorate of the ministry of defence. The company expects the final decision on the contractor will be made in 2022.
The offer presented by Navantia is based on the F100-class frigate, examples of which are in service with the Spanish Navy.
